The temple complex of Dendera, also known as Denderah or Tentyra, dates back to the Ptolemaic-Roman period and is located about 5 km northwest of Qena and approximately 60 km north of Luxor. The site is considered one of the best-preserved of its kind and still maintains its historical splendor.
A special highlight: the famous “Light of Dendera,” a mysterious wall relief often associated with theories of ancient technology and electricity. It depicts a lotus flower with a serpent emerging from it – a fascinating symbol that remains puzzling to this day.

We will pick you up directly from your hotel at 6:00 in the morning and drive about 220 km towards Dendera (the route deviates slightly on departure from Marsa Alam).
The temple of Dendera is dedicated to the goddess Hathor – the Egyptian goddess of joy, beauty, love and maternal care. In the Greek and Ptolemaic times she was equated with Aphrodite, in the Romans with Venus.
On site, with your experienced guide, you will discover the Sacred Lake, the sanatorium, the Mamisi (birthplace), as well as the only surviving depiction of Pharaoh Cleopatra VII. In addition, admire fascinating astronomical representations on the temple ceiling and mysterious reliefs in the crypt.
A highlight is the famous wall relief of Cleopatra with her son, who is descended from Julius Caesar – an impressive testimony of the meeting of great ancient cultures. Further depictions of Roman emperors make the temple a true "who's who" of antiquity.
The temple of Dendera was considered the center of astronomical studies in ancient times.
